Hornbill Art House is perfectly situated in the heart of the Cape Floristic Region, one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth and proudly recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This unique landscape, known as the Fynbos Biome, is home to more than 9,000 plant species—two-thirds of which are found nowhere else on the planet.

In spring and early summer, the surrounding hillsides and reserves erupt in colour as proteas, ericas, pincushions, leucadendrons, and restios burst into bloom. Visitors can experience this dazzling natural spectacle just moments from our doorstep—exploring trails through the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, or the nearby Hoek-van-die-Berg Private Nature Reserve.

Every walk offers a new discovery: a flash of bright crimson from a flowering protea, the golden shimmer of cone bushes, or the delicate symmetry of a rare orchid.
