Hermanus Whale Festival
Held annually to herald and celebrate the arrival of our beloved Southern Right Whales, the Hermanus Whale Festival is usually held toward the end of September. The enormously popular festival is well attended by visitors from far and wide creating a welcome buzz to wake up Hermanus from its winter slumber.
The Hermanus Kalfiefees is a highly anticipated cultural festival which coincides with the arrival of the Southern Right Whales, which is why the festival was given its name. The annual six-day event takes place in Onrus annually during August.
Apart from the star attractions, the Southern right whales, the Afrikaans-centred festival showcases the local talent - from productions and exhibitions to musical performances and topical discussions.
